Ownership and Members management

Members and project access

GeoWork projects are spaces where users come together to collaborate and work in the field. Because of this, it is important to manage who has access to a project, how users join, what permissions they have, and how they can be removed.

Owner / Ownership of a project

The owner of a specific project is a GeoWork user who has an active account, is logged in, and has successfully completed the process of creating that project.

This means:

Membership:

Inviting users to a project

Inviting users is the process of adding new members to a project.

Only users with sufficient permissions can create invites.

There are two types of invites:

  • Direct invites – sent to specific users (via email)
  • General invites – accessible through a link or QR code, usable by any logged-in GeoWork user (depending on settings)

Creating an invite

Invites can be created in three places:

  1. During project creation
  • Used for immediate invitations
  1. Project Info tab (project functions sidebar)
  • Used for quick, everyday invitations
  1. Project settings (Access management section)
  • Used for advanced invitation management, including overview and history

Accepting an invite

To join a project through an invite:

  • They must open and accept the invite (via email, link, or QR code)

Once accepted, the user becomes a member of the project.
