Polygons

Polygons are a specific type of marker that represent an area instead of a single point.

A polygon is created from multiple points placed on the map. These points are automatically connected in sequence by straight lines, forming a closed shape. The space enclosed by these lines defines the polygon’s area.

Because polygons are a form of marker, they share most of their properties and behavior with standard markers. The main differences are:

  • Polygons consist of multiple points instead of one
  • Polygons represent an area instead of a location
  • The creation process differs from standard markers

Create a polygon

Polygons are created from the Markers tab of the project function sidebar.

To create a polygon:

  1. Open the Markers tab of the project function sidebar
  2. Click the Create polygon button
  3. Click on the map to place individual points
  4. Continue placing points to define the shape of the area
  5. Close the polygon by connecting the last point to the first or pressing Enter on your keyboard
  6. Press the Save polygon button to proceed with the creation process of the polygon (or press the Cancel polygon creation button to reject the whole process)
  7. Select the state of the polygon in the pop up window
  8. The polygon is now created and displayed on the map.

Where polygons are displayed

Polygons are integrated into the project in the same way as other markers.

They can be found in the following places:

  • On the map – displayed as a filled or outlined area based on their configuration
  • Markers list – listed alongside standard markers in the Markers tab

Selecting a polygon behaves the same as selecting a marker, opening its interaction window and allowing further actions depending on permissions.
