Project interface

Once created, a project can be entered by clicking on it from the dashboard. The project's interface consists in:

The map

The project's interface mainly consists in a basemap over which the project data is displayed. On the basemap are plot already known public data (position of roads, rivers, buildings, forests, etc.). On top of this basemap will appear the project data under the form of:

  1. Layers - Layers can be considered as orthomosaic photos overlapping the basemap. They allow to visually see the state of a site at a given instant or to simply give accurate visual reference. More about layers here
  2. Markers - Markers are points of interest. They can store various kinds of useful information that evolves with time while keeping a trace of all changes. More about markers here
  3. Position - On mobile phones, the GPS position of the user is displayed as well on the map, so that he knows it's position relative to other data (project's markers or layers) at any time.

The sidebar

The project's interface contains as well, on its left side, a side panel or sidebar. This gives access to different options and data:

  1. Project Details - The project owner or any administrator (see roles) can see a "Project Details" button where to access and edit project settings.
  2. Layers section - Here is the list of layers belonging to the project More about layers here
  3. Markers section - Here is the list of markers belonging to the project More about markers here

The timeline

At the bottom of the interface is the so-called "timeline". This tool allows to see the evolution of the project's data over time. When any change is made anywhere, the date of change is remembered, so that it's possible to go back in time and see the state at that time.

By default, the latest state is visible. But on demand, a specific date can be asked. Here is how to do:

  1. Enter/create your GeoWork project - See this part of the documentation to create one if needed.
  2. Deactivate the "Show current status" - At the bottom of the interface, click on the "Show current status" checkbox. The timeline will appear.
  3. Adjust the precision of the timeline - By the use of "+" and "-" buttons, change the precision of the timeline. It can cover from few hours to several months.
  4. Change the displayed date - By sliding the handle left or right, the displayed date changes. The time stamp is shown at the top-left of the timeline box and the map shows layers and markers corresponding to this date.
  5. Reactivate the "Show current status" - When all checks are done, one can re-activate the "Show current status" in the timeline box to go back to the latest state of the project.
