Locate using a single photo

This is currently the easiest and fastest method of locating an object using a drone. All you need for this method:

First, you need to have pictures of the object you want to locate taken by the drone. The most reliable way is using a live sharing service to see directly the preview of your drone's camera.

  1. Fly over the location where you want to spot any sort of object
  2. Spot the object of interest
  3. Move the drone so that the object of interest is directly under it - this can be hard to do, but try being the closest as possible
  4. Take a picture using the drone's camera
info

Make sure your drone contains metadata of the photos taken. This can be either transferred live or only after landing and transferring.

Everything depends on the type of your drone. Please find out if your drone shares metadata of the photos taken while flying, or if landing is needed to receive them. Based on these information follow either:

For Drones NOT providing metadata while in air:

  1. Fly your drone back to you
  2. Land the drone
  3. Share the photo to your device with GeoWork
  4. Follow the Create Marker From Picture instructions and insert the photos from your drone
  5. A marker with the location of the picture will appear
  6. Navigate to the marker (Optional)
